Why luffy vs usopp

Either Usopp devoted himself to the name of Strawhat or he moves on simple as that Luffy owes no apology. Personally I can't decide who was right. Luffy kinda made his mind up too quickly and usopp was a jerk to luffy for simply not agreeing. I do like how you guys mention the fact that luffy is the captain and his word is law thing because part of the reason the whole thing happened was because usopp did not swear to luffy Luffy was right, when merry go saved them it was break into 2 parts so merry is not save for them anymore.

You have to remember Usopp had way more of a personal attachment to the Merry than Luffy did, of course it would be harder for him to come to terms with the Merry being destroyed, but a captain's orders are absolute.

I don't think it really mattered. I think the objective was to focus on Usopp and how he sees things based on his past. It was a hint to what we could see from him when the arc that is focused on him comes. Luffy was without a doubt right but if you look at it from why Usopp's emotions drove him to see the situation as he did you would let your emotions get the better of you and believe that Usopp was right.

I dont know who's right, i only see what went wrong between them. Luffy was wrong, he should ask the all crew especially Usopp before decide to leaving merry and not abandon the ship like that who saved them many times, but not quite so because it's hard for Luffy to make that decision too.. Usopp was wrong too, he should listen the captain order instead argue with him, but again not quite so because he absolutely no idea what the real condition of Merry and even though like that he still believed it can be repair somehow, in sky island he saw klabauterman fixing Merry after had been destroyed.

If Usoop didn't kidnapped by Franky Family, maybe Usopp would be little bit understand what Luffy's decision and they not going to fight for it. In My Opinion Usopp should apologized for blaming Luffy, not obey captain and challenge him into battle. Luffy is right, Usopp is wrong of being over obsessed by his emotions on Merry. But below are the reasons why the whole thing about Zoro demanding an outright apology is unnecessary to me turning me down on Zoro a little bit.

The Straw Hat crew does not function as a normal pirate crew, they are friends before any hierarchy. Zoro just wants to push an authority only he really follows and Luffy himself dislikes.

Usopp's only prep was that he had "analyzed" Luffy's fighting style and that he would use attacks that would potentially be able to damage Luffy, i. Amol Chief of Wisdom. Luffy could have ended the fight in the very first second if he really wanted to.

As long as everyone knows this there shouldn't be any problem. Pirao Trollslayer. As soon as he got pissed Are you saying that Usopp and Luffy are close in strength? That's all i want to know.

Amol said:. Pirao said:. That's something you think and you don't have any proof of that. It was a duel and Luffy did get pissed the moment he tasted the explosion. Usopp controlled the fight. But I don't deny that Usopp knew since the beginning that he had no chance against Luffy. The impact dial was his last effort to at least make some damage to luffy. But this thread is not about the difficulty of the fight, but about the fact that Usopp did not prepare the battlefield prior to the fight.

He went in and fought as good as he could against his captain. No, that's exactly what happened. Usopp giving a Luffy that considers him an enemy from the start of the fight is just something you think and you don't have any proof of that.

Prepared or unprepared, the result would still end with Usopp in a pool of his own blood. Thank you for stating the obvious.

This thread is not about the difficulty of the fight but about Usopp not preparing the battlefield. Any opinion on that? If not then you can take and make your own thread about other matters such as how easy Luffy would have won against Usopp! So in the end, all you proved is that he isn't a strategic genius. Etherborn Cosmic Impulse Moderator. I'm confused. Are you saying that Usopp wasn't fighting dirty, or are you just saying that he gave Luffy the difficulty he did without prep?

Because while the latter certainly may be true, the former is not. Luffy was hesitating that entire time; that much was obvious. If he wasn't, he wouldn't have stopped midway through an attack out of concern for Usopp's wellbeing. And the fact that Usopp readily took advantage of that just completely throws away Oda's attempt to portray that fight as an "honorable duel. So there's your undeniable fact about Usopp. TheWiggian He, who greets with Fire. I think op wants to tell us that: "the only thing that matters is that Usopp still got boned easily, thought he was playing dirty".

I must say, he proved that successfully. Good job, will rep. Last edited: Mar 20, Rocktomato Active Member. The only crewmember who can fight on somewhat equal terms with Luffy, without any equipment or prep, is Sanji. Usopp was fighting dirty and behaving like a real scumbag for that whole arc. Transcendent Samurai said:. Venom Well-Known Member. Now people are even arguing that Usopp was not prepared when he fought Luffy? When Luffy gets up, Usopp knocks him back down with Hissatsu Koshou Boshi, which explodes in a cloud of ground pepper.

Luffy coughs in fits and repeatedly lands in the caltrops. Luffy recovers enough to finally get out of the caltrops, remarking how much it hurts. Usopp says he won't give Luffy a chance to retaliate, and starts to amp up the danger with Shuriken Ryuuseigun, firing strings of throwing stars at Luffy, forcing him to focus on dodging.

He gets in an area that appears to be smoky. Usopp says it's actually gas coming from a Breath Dial; he couldn't smell it because of the rotten eggs. Usopp fires Kaen Boshi, setting off a tremendous explosion that throws Going Merry back from the shore. For a moment, Luffy lays on the ground and thinks about the past with Usopp.

The water thrown up by the explosion makes it look like the ship itself is crying. Usopp remarks he knows that explosion wouldn't kill Luffy.

Usopp fires several Sanren Kayaku Boshi at Luffy, forcing him to dodge the resulting explosions. Luffy finally knocks Usopp back with Gomu Gomu no Pistol. But when he tries Gomu Gomu no Bazooka, Usopp catches it with an Impact Dial and dishes it back out on Luffy, knocking Luffy back, but also injuring his arm with the recoil. That was the last of Usopp's tricks. Out of ideas, he stands there and takes it as Luffy fires Gomu Gomu no Bullet, punching him hard in the chest and knocking him out, winning the duel.
