When she was years-old, the Winnipeg native, worked at a hair salon. A model scout came in to have her hair done. In , after spending a year as Miss Manitoba, she auditioned for a series of television commercials for a Canadian radio station. Mansbridge was to say the least surprised. At the time, she was an honours student majoring in English at the University of Winnipeg. Then she moved to television and hosted a live mid-morning show Good Good Morning for over a decade.

How lucky am I? A: My house is open concept with a contemporary style. It has three floors and a flat roof. We have a lot of light coloured wood, windows, and decks as well as two big stone fireplaces and a two-storey slate waterwall. A: My husband and I had been house hunting for about five years.

As soon as we saw this we knew we were home. I love cooking, and my hips and I love to eat! A: We wanted a spa-like retreat. There is a hand-carved wooden wall clock that came over on the boat with my grandmother from Denmark, and the coffee table I hit my head on when I was two-years old.

Everything means something. We also have a lot of modern art. A: Our first night here there was a huge summer storm that played across the sky. The power was knocked out. It is humbling and empowering to see how community-minded we are! A good, juicy, lean barbecued burger. Fresh, wild halibut or salmon cooked fast under a hot grill. And baklava, made with a honey simple syrup I used to grow my own lemon geranium plants, to use the leaves to flavour my hot syrup poured on cold baklava.

It builds a sense of family beyond the borders of your own. It creates a sense of belonging for all. It binds people together, enriches lives, and is the most powerful element in making dreams come true, both for builders and receivers of community projects.
